Phantasmal - Patch #93
Cards aren't the only thing we're balancing this patch. While Discovery gets some appearance rates adjustments to help curate a more diverse metagame. And the animation department departs with some of their fantastic work. We're also going to significantly increase the weekly Ranked rewards in an effort to drive more action to Conquest!

Improvements 🦾
- Several new animations have been added (see video clip above).
- The top 250 Ranked players will now receive ~15% more Silver cards (for a total of 800) every week from the leaderboard. You can view the exact distribution here.
- The top 500 Ranked players will now collectively receive 2,400 bonus Conquest tickets every week from the leaderboard! 🤯
Bugfixes 🐛
- Fixed experience points from not being awarded for the last XP Boost.
Welcome to patch #93 everyone! We've got a smaller patch this time around, in the effort of allowing the metagame to breathe and develop on its own. We've specifically targeted a few cards that have been overrepresented and may be limiting player creativity within the current metagame, in service of encouraging more diversity of strategies. We have also adjusted the Discovery appearance rates for Agility and Strength down significantly and boosted Heart's, to help curate a more diverse and balanced Discovery metagame.

Jungle Guide (105)

A small nerf to a new card that was performing a bit too effectively, Jungle Guide is a really useful tool for elemental decks, but its health pool was bulky enough to tank a good portion of earlygame removal, potentially allowing it to be played turn 1 or 2 freely. We would ideally like to see cards like Jungle Guide carry a bit more risk to offset the huge potential upside they carry.

A somewhat harsh change but one that should be a net benefit for metagame health and diversity, playing trailblazer early could result in scenarios where the flow of the game and likelihood of a player winning would be heavily influenced by whether or not they could immediately answer Trailblazer. Furthermore, being at 2c allowed it some insane high roll potential on the back of run wild, as being able to instantly summon Blazer and trigger its glory was a huge tempo gain. We don’t mind Aggro having powerful tools, but Trailblazer’s power was somewhat forcing aggro decks to spec into fire, so we’ve reduced its power to encourage aggressive strategies to branch out - if this is too harsh a blow to aggro it likely indicates they’re in need of other stronger tools.

A curve swap with Trailblazer and buff to an underperformer, allowing Impostor to come down sooner and serve as a less expensive form of chains/keyword stealing than before, should make for a useful guard-piercing tool for Agility.
Run Wild (1092)

Similar to Trailblazer, Run Wild is a card that provided such a huge reward that it made it hard for aggro decks to justify not running a core of fire cards. It now lacks the +1 power clause, which should make it a less centralizing aggro card, and encourage aggro decks to diversify. It's worth noting that while our hope is that these nerfs help to diversify aggro gameplans, they’re primarily spurred by the fact that Fire-Based Fox decks are currently making up a huge share of the metagame, and so they serve as a nerf to that strategy.
