Bioluminary - Patch #117
We're getting ready for a big batch patch that introduces several changes and improvements to the game. But that doesn't mean we can't take some time to address a couple powerful cards in an otherwise fairly diverse metagame!
Welcome to Patch 117, everyone! This week is a check-in patch, and we’ve decided to take action in service of addressing some frustrating powerlevel outliers in what otherwise appears to be a fairly diverse metagame.
Amaruath's Will (103)
Text:
Attach Anima to units in your hand and deck without an attachment. Draw
a unit.
↓
Attach Anima to units in your hand and deck without an
attachment.
Amaruath’s Will was performing too well, so we’ve nerfed it by removing its ability to draw its user a card. We like the archetype of decks Will supports, so we took a conservative approach and removed its ability to maintain resource parity, forcing a larger commitment from its user, rather than nerfing its cost or effect.
Bioluminary (134)
Spell:
Anima
→
None
One of our more recent Skypass additions. The Season 21 cards were intended to be powerful, but Luminary proved to be unreasonably strong, so we’ve removed its Anima to help keep it in check.
Undragon (3015)
Text:
Play & Death: Summon five Zomboid with Guard and Lifesteal.
↓
Play & Death: Summon four Zomboid with Guard and Lifesteal.
Undragon was performing a little too well following the buff last patch, but we still want it to be a powerful finisher, so we’ve made a small nerf, letting it summon just 4 Zomboid instead of 5 on each of its triggers.
Casket (3095)
Text:
Death: Draw your lowest cost unit. Trigger its death effect (if
any).
↓
Death: Draw your lowest cost unit. If it costs 5 or less mana, trigger
its death effect.
Health:
4
→
5
Casket has been causing some issues as it allowed players to ‘cheat’ the cost curve by triggering the death effects of high cost Units far ahead of the curve. It now can only trigger the death effects of a Unit that costs five or less mana, but we’ve given it +1 health to compensate.
Gerry the Goon (3122)
Cost:
6
→
8
Power:
5
→
9
Health:
5
→
7
Gerry is getting moved up the curve from 6 to 8 mana cost, as he’s too effective on turn 6. To compensate, we’ve given him a pretty substantial stat buff of +4/+2.
Cryogen (4012)
Cost:
9
→
10
Cryogen is getting a +1 cost nerf, as she has been proving too strong in the current meta. We like the power level of her effect, as it feels very epic, but the cost has to match it.
