Big Fishy go Splash Splash - Patch #108
This week we've landed a big fish đ with several changes aimed at improving the gameplay experience a month following the Hexbound Invasion expansion. We've buffed several cards on the weaker side and have made some adjustments to a few overperformers that have been causing balance issues in the current metagame.
New Cards đ´
- Two news cards added to the Skypass! Hordekeeper and King Altren XI
Improvements đŚž
- Improved the Skypass reward carousel icons to match the exact number of cards youâll receive.
- Added card grade (Base, Silver, and Gold) to the deck and graveyard sidebars in-game.
- Attempting invalid actions in-game now shows better hint text.
Bugfixes đ
- Fixed a bug where Tutorial 4 had two continue buttons.
- Fixed a bug where the Grandweaver ELO bar wouldnât appear.
- You can no longer tap the Action History button in reward screens.
- Fixed a bug where spectated and replayed Conquest games showed the non-Conquest island.
- Fixed the mana vials being covered by the replay controls.
- Fixed the "Waiting for Opponent" message stuck on card selection overlay
- Fixed Scarred Servitor interaction with enemy units that attack on your turn.
- Fixed Hordekeeper interaction with Gerry the Goon.
- Fixed bug with Sparky + Clapback and Spellbreaker interaction not getting Lifesteal on the second spell.
Welcome to Patch 108, everyone! We have a bit of a bigger patch this week, as weâre aiming to buff a number of weaker cards from the Hexbound Invasion expansion. Weâre also making an overarching change to some buff spells, and tweaking a few overperformers that have been an issue in the current metagame. Our goal with these changes is to improve upon a few sub-themes that have been underperforming since the release of Hexbound Invasion, like Blight in Wisdom and Big Spells in Intellect.

This change to Stone Fist is representative of a change to a number of buff spells. Weâve modified many buff spells to only target allies, making them more consistent with new buff spells like Nurtured Bond and Raze the Banners. This also serves to fix their anti-synergy with autocast cards like Hexed Beast and Stormâs Echo, which could otherwise point these beneficial buffs at enemies.
Weâre aware this removes a few corner-cases where pointing these buffs at an enemy could be tactically correct, but for the sake of simplicity and the ability to create more autocast effects moving forward, we consider this a worthwhile trade off. The full list of spells modified by this change is below. Weâve also updated the names of a few âSwordâ buff spells to âBladeâ for mysterious purposes.

Drone Surge has consistently been an extremely powerful tool for Agility decks, often ubiquitous in the meta, so itâs getting a small nerf. In the process we've also reworded Drone Surge to be more concise. The number of Micron Drones it summons is now independent of the damage it deals; it now summons one extra Drone when your health is 16 or less, rather than dealing extra damage.

Soulpyre Titan has been less oppressive since the Nakamoto changes, but it was still very impactful for Agility decks this past patch. It provides a strong aggro tool for closing out the game and a comeback tool against aggro decks in control decks. Overall, the card was performing too well, so weâve reduced its health and power by one.
Cygnan Secrets (2128)

The cost of Cygnan Secrets was largely balanced around Menglongâs cost. However, itâs proven to be much less potent, as adding 2/5 worth of stats with Stealth and Banner to a unit is worth less than a 6/6 banner unit with Guard. Weâve given it a pretty substantial -2 cost buff to compensate.

Itâs also intended to incentivise players to actually use the Blights they are given, rather than just holding them in hand. Empty the Undercroft was intended to be a powerful threat for Heart decks, and while it was strong in playtesting, it's proven far too weak in the last meta. As such, we have given it a fairly substantial buff, dropping it from 10 cost to 8 cost. However, much of the risk of the card lies in its symmetrical nature, so even at a lower cost, youâll still need to contend with that issue.

Weâve seen a number of strategies that are capable of turboing Serpent out in the early turns of the game, particularly in Mira decks. As such, weâve reduced Serpentâs stats and dropped Stealth to make it easier to answer in those situations. Increasing the cost was also considered, but it was important for Intellect to have a 10c unit for cards like Mootichiâs Command, so we've opted not to change the cost for now.
